Toulouse’s New Zealand scrum half Byron Kelleher has been voted the Top 14’s player of the season.

The 31-year-old, who scored three tries for the reigning champions in their 20-6 victory over Biarritz earlier this month, succeeds Stade Francais’ Argentinean Juan Martin Hernandez.

Kelleher has established himself on the international stage, appearing in 57 tests for the All Blacks between 1999 and 2007.

His team-mate, Toulouse-born back Maxime Medard, took young player of the year and backroom staff members Guy Noves, Yannick Bru and Philippe Rouge-Thomas were voted best trainers in the Top 14.

Castres lock and current France captain Lionel Nallet was chosen as the best international for the second consecutive season.

New Zealand back Orene Ai’i, who plays for recently promoted side Toulon, won Division 2 player of the year. Christophe Berdos was voted best referee.
