Perth ended Townsville’s three-game winning streak with a solid 107-93 NBL victory at the Townsville Entertainment Centre tonight

The Wildcats had several contributors however journeyman Ben Knight was the main destroyer with 17 points.

Rosell Elis was Townsville’s best with 21 points while Corey Williams (20) and big man Russel Hinder (16) provided good support.

Perth led 33-22 after the first quarter and this blew out to 56-44 at half time on the back of strong contributions from Shawn Redhage (11) and Isiah Victor (10)

Townsville captain John Rillie threatened bring the Crocs back from the dead, launching a mini revival with eight third-quarter points, however the Wildcats held strong to lead 83-66 at the final break.

Perth coach Conner Henry believed his side set the tone for victory with a determined defensive effort.

“The whole thing with the Crocs is you have to limit their transitions, try and stay home on their three point shooters I thought we did a good job tonight,” Henry said.

“Once we played great defence I think they shot 42 per cent.”

Henry also praised his side’s ability to share the offensive load.

“That’s probably the most impressive thing, we have got eight guys in double figures.

“It was infectious one guy starts hitting and the next guy starts hitting but it started on the defensive end for us.”

Townsville coach Trevor Gleeson believed his side had come up against a very physical Perth side.

“That was probably the most physical game we have played this year I thought it was like an AFL game there for a little while,” Gleeson said.

However he would not be drawn into criticising the referees’ performance.

“I can answer that honestly if you want to pay $10,000 but look this is what I will say: It was the most physical game we have played this year, we just have to find out if that’s the way have to start playing.”
