The Brisbane Broncos are taking the unprecedented step of recalling their players from holiday to an emergency meeting to reinforce the NRL club’s tough new behavioural guidelines.

The club’s action follows the latest indiscretion involving a Broncos player when NSW State of Origin halfback Peter Wallace was arrested after an incident at a Sunshine Coast hotel late on Sunday night.

Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen said today the club had contacted all its players not involved in the World Cup campaign and ordered them back to Brisbane for a meeting to be held in the next 24 hours.

Cullen said the club would deliver a stern warning about the obligations of players to the club.

Cullen said the management of the hotel said the Wallace incident was extremely minor and there was no scuffle as had been reported.

He said that Wallace had attempted to re-enter the hotel after being refused service only to tell friends he was leaving.

The alleged incident comes after a tumultuous year for the Broncos.

Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday are currently under investigation over an alleged sexual assault at a Brisbane nightclub.
