Show me the IPL money, demand Aussie cricketers

Australia’s cricketers have shown their liking for the Indian Premier League by making up the largest contingent from any foreign nation for next week’s player auction in Goa.

Some 27 Australians have put up their names for the subcontinental meat market before the February 6 sell-off of their services.

Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke, who skipped the IPL’s inaugural season last year for family reasons, has been listed but is still not a confirmed starter for the Twenty20 competition running from April 10 to May 29.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin is expected to pull in the big dollars even if he probably won’t have much time for the IPL because of Australia’s busy playing schedule.

Pace bowlers Stuart Clark, Shaun Tait and Doug Bollinger are also up for sale along with domestic batsmen Mark Cosgrove, Lee Carseldine, Travis Birt and Adam Voges.

Ex-Australian allrounder Brad Hogg has also thrown his hat in the ring.

Most of Australia’s big-name players signed up last year for the competition with Mitchell Johnson being a rare exception by opting to skip the lucrative competition for another season.

Australia: Brad Haddin, Michael Clarke, Nathan Hauritz, Stuart Clark, Brad Hogg, Beau Casson, Mark Cameron, Peter Forrest, Lee Carseldine, Doug Bollinger, Michael Dighton, Jason Krejza, Nathan Reardon, Chris Hartley, Shaun Tait, Ashley Noffke, Bryce McGain, George Bailey, Michael Hill, Travis Birt, Chris Swan, Michael Klinger, Ben Edmondson, Aiden Blizzard, Mark Cosgrove, Adam Voges, Shane Harwood.
