Roosters run riot in JWH’s milestone match as tough question looms for Warriors over Johnson’s future

Former Sydney Roosters winger Amos Roberts has delivered the ultimate insult to fans who once adored his every step, claiming the tri-colours faithful lacked the `patriotism’ of his new Wigan backers.
Yet to play a game for the Super League glamour club after being released by the Roosters, Roberts even said the Roosters received no advantage from playing at home due to a lack of atmosphere at the SFS.
“Nothing against the fans back home but sometimes it’s like you’re playing 13 against 13, but here (in England) I guess they are more into it,” Roberts told English reporters.
“They are more patriotic about their team and it makes it more appealing.”
Roberts signed a three-year deal with the Warriors after being released by the Roosters who were looking to create some breathing space in their salary cap.
On top of the significant boost his wallet got from the switch, the 28-year-old said vision of hoards of singing fans at Super League games had also convinced him to shift his young family to the other side of the world.
“It’s the fans,” Roberts said.
“I’ve watched a few matches involving some mates over here and the fans chant for the whole 80 minutes.
“It’s pretty spectacular.”
Roberts arrived in England a fortnight ago but the wrist he had surgically repaired late last year has kept him off the field to date.
The Warriors open their season against Wakefield on Sunday with Roberts saying he was hopeful of being cleared to play.
