Paul Hodgson will make his first Test start for England this Saturday after being named Wednesday in Martin Johnson’s team to play Argentina at Twickenham.

London Irish No 9 Hodgson is one of four changes Johnson has made to the side following last weekend’s 18-9 loss to Australia.

Hodgson, who came off the bench last weekend at Twickenham, swops places with Danny Care.

Up front, Northampton hooker Dylan Hartley and Bath prop Duncan Bell replace Steve Thompson and the injured David Wilson respectively.

James Haskell, who added some much needed pace when coming off the bench against the Wallabies, starts at No 8 in place of Jordan Crane.

Uncapped Wasps prop Paul Doran-Jones is on the bench after an injury crisis left England without several front rows while experienced flanker Joe Worsley is also among the replacements.

Tight head prop Bell, 35, will be making his first start for England since facing Scotland in the 2005 Six Nations and Thompson will win his 50th cap if he comes off the bench.

Argentina are due to name their side later Wednesday.
