Vic Darchinyan will embark on a revenge mission after destroying Mexico’s Tomas Rojas in the second round of their super flyweight world-title fight in California on Saturday.

The WBA and WBC champion fired a powerful left hand to Rojas’ chin that left the Mexican flat on his back and unable to get up.

Minutes after the devastating win at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, outside Los Angeles, Darchinyan revealed his plan to avenge the two losses that blight his stellar 36-fight professional record.

“I want rematches,” announced Darchinyan, who was cheered at the casino by a large contingent of Australian supporters, including IBO world cruiserweight champion Danny Green.

First up on Darchinyan’s revenge list is The Filipino Flash, Nonito Donaire, who scored a surprise fifth-round technical knockout over Darchinyan in Connecticut in 2007.

Then Darchinyan wants a rematch with Ghana’s Joseph King Kong Agbeko.

Agbeko also was a surprise victor when Darchinyan stepped up a weight division to fight the African for the IBF bantamweight world title in July.

“Every night when I sleep I am thinking about when I’ll fight those guys,” Darchinyan said.

“It is in my dreams.”

Darchinyan’s American promoter, Gary Shaw, confirmed he was working on a fight with the Filipino.

“We’re going after Donaire,” Shaw said.

Rojas became the most recent Mexican fighter to end up on the canvas after suffering at the hands of Darchinyan’s punching power.

His high-profile countrymen Jorge Arce, Cristian Mijares and Victor Burgos were all hospitalised after losing to the Australian in recent years.

In the first round the taller, longer-limbed Rojas appeared as though he would live up to his bold prediction of taking away Darchinyan’s WBC and WBA super-flyweight belts.

Rojas hit Darchinyan with some solid blows, but the Australian said he was just patiently watching for weaknesses in Rojas’ armour.

Darchinyan noticed when he threw his lethal left hand Rojas would instinctively duck.

With the clock winding down in the second round Darchinyan launched four successive left hands.

After the third a cocky Rojas egged Darchinyan to throw one more.

Darchinyan did, hitting Rojas on the chin and sending him to the canvas.

“He was confident because he hit me with a couple of good ones,” Darchinyan said.

“I knew because he saw my left coming straight he’d try to duck it.

“I didn’t go for his head.

“I went for his chest and hit his chin.”

The win gives Darchinyan a professional record of 33 wins (27 knockout), two losses and a draw.

It was also a victorious night for rising Australian lightweight Leonardo Zappavigna who beat American Sergio Macias with a unanimous points decision.

The undercard fight was 22-year-old undefeated Zappavigna’s US debut and his 22nd professional win.
