Sitting around the Qantas Club with our coffees, newspapers, magazines and laptops; onlookers may assume the Melbourne Vixens aren’t the most social bunch.

But, trust me, this would be an incorrect assumption. What’s more fun than a road trip?

Think about it, it’s a weekend away with the girls: staying in a hotel, dinner with 11 of your close friends, movie nights … and, if all goes to plan, winning the game you love.

Many may believe the Vixens have a tough draw this season with our first three games on the road but in actual fact, this is an opportunity for us to set ourselves up for the season, both on and off the court.

I would love to let you in on all of the little secrets about what happens on the road, but I am going to leave that to your imaginations. Team rule: What happens on the road, stays on the road.

But wait; keep reading …that doesn’t mean that I can’t share a few little netballing truths with you.

(Please note: I cannot name names)

Truth # 1: Buffet Breakfast is a highlight.

Truth #2: Rooms will smell of fake tan when the team departs.

Truth #3: One of our young gun goalers does snore.

Truth #4: You must not ‘Bus hop’. Start in a particular mini bus, and stay there.

Truth #5: When hungry and waiting for dinner, the level of intelligence of conversation topics tends to dramatically decrease.

Truth #6: Another up and coming goaler packs way to much luggage.

Truth #7: Particular team members do drool whilst sleeping on planes.

Truth #8: We travel economy class.

Truth #9: Consultation before magazine purchases is a must. Swapsies!

Truth #10: Pranks are a must.

Don’t ever say that I don’t give you information.

1 game down, 1 win on the board and this week the fox is hunting the Swift.

Cheers,

Naebo
