Blues release fury over low Lions

The Blues have defeated the Lions 41-32 in their Round 3 Super 15 encounter at Johannesburg early Saturday morning. All eyes were on the team who gave the two best South African teams a run for their money in the opening rounds.

It was the Blues those who started precedings as Joe Rokocoko raced in after four minutes.

The Lions didn’t waste much time as they scored four minutes after with Jano Vermaak diving in to make level at 7-all before ten minutes of play.

Jared Payne scored to make it 14-7 in favour of the Blues. Luke MacAllistar kicked a field goal on the 20th minutes, but the Lions scored another try soon after with Warren Whiteley to level it again at 17-all.

Doppies La Grange scored on the stroke of half-time to make it 25-17 at half-time. Two back-to-back tries for Rene Ranger gave the Blues the lead they should never drop.

But a late try by Josh Strauss reduced the defecit to just two. Two minutes later, the Blues finally finished off the Lions, with Alby Matthewson sealing the win for the Blues 41-32 at full-time.
