How the NRL weekend should really look

I’m surprised that in today’s current climate, NRL fans are still prevented from watching all eight NRL games live each week. Channel 9 needs to be pulled into line. And they call themselves the leader in sport!

I have revised this week’s scheduling as an example.

All eight games are live, the second Friday night game is moved to the Saturday slot, leaving only one game on the Friday night. I’m sure if you ask fans, a lot would say they can’t stay awake for the second game anyway.

All games on Sunday are live (that includes Channel 9’s 4pm game). I have also introduced a Sunday evening game. Why this hasn’t been introduced on a permanent basis is beyond me.

Revised schedule looks like this:

Friday
Eels vs Panthers, 7.30pm (Channel 9 LIVE)

Saturday
Storm vs Titans, 3.30pm (Fox Sports LIVE)
Cowboys vs Knights, 5.30pm (Fox Sports LIVE)
Raiders vs Broncos, 7.30pm (Channel 9 LIVE)

Sunday
Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs, 2.00pm (Fox Sports LIVE)
Roosters vs Sea Eagles, 4.00pm (Channel 9 LIVE)
Wests Tigers vs Warriors, 7.30pm (Fox Sports LIVE)

Monday
Sharks vs Dragons, 7.00pm (Fox Sports LIVE)

I think most fans would love this schedule – especially those who want to watch all games live. I think a Sunday evening game would be a great addition to the schedule.

Obviously Channel 9 don’t want to showcase a Sunday evening game because it would interfere with 60 Minutes. Well, give it to Fox Sports, I’m sure they would appreciate taking the timeslot.

Again, this comes back to Channel 9’s hold on the game. Hopefully with the next TV deal, the NRL stand up and demand all games are televised live. I won’t hold my breath.

Interested to hear your thoughts.
