AFL club North Melbourne’s Sudanese recruit Majak Daw is believed to have been racially abused while playing for VFL feeder team Werribee on Saturday.

North Melbourne made a brief comment to AAP on Saturday night, following reports a male spectator had been ejected from the Port Melbourne ground after an incident of racial abuse directed towards Daw.

Werribee officials were furious at the man’s outburst and had the spectator removed by ground security shortly after quarter-time, according to a Herald Sun report.

“North Melbourne is unable to make any comment with police now looking into the matter,” the Kangaroos said in a statement.

The 195cm Daw, 20, is in his second season with Werribee and plays as a ruckman-forward.

The incident is sure to cause concern at AFL House and comes after Hawthorn’s star forward Lance Franklin was racially abused during an AFL match earlier this year in Launceston.
