The sporting world never ceases to amaze me. From freak comebacks to upset wins, last-minute choking and the purely bizarre and unexpected, sport’s unpredictability and its ever-changing nature is what keeps me interested.

You know it’s a strange world when…

England are number one in the world at Test cricket. It’s never happened before.

Parramatta are poised to claim the NRL wooden spoon. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

The England national rugby union side wear a black jersey at the World Cup. They have heard of the All Blacks, and know this year’s tournament is in New Zealand, right?

A Welsh team is in the English Premier League. And I’m not talking Cardiff City either.

A caddie causes more controversy and receives more media coverage than an actual golfer. It’s like a touch judge upstaging Darren Lockyer.

Tiny Middle Eastern countries start buying up European football clubs. Expect Malaga in Spain, Paris St-Germain in France and Manchester City in England to be competing with the big boys soon.
