Australia will look to resume from a difficult 7/212 on the first day in the third Test match against West Indies at Dominica. Join us for live scores and commentary from 1.00am AEST.

On a track that spun and bounced disconcertingly for the Australian batsmen, Shane Shillingford almost bowled through from one end and made life difficult for the opponents.

Some of the battles that Shillingford had against the Australian batsmen were eerily familiar to their plays against Harbhajan Singh in that famous 2001 series.

Ricky Ponting looked out of sorts against spin then and a decade on, there was a sense of a cat on a hot tin roof about him. Unsurprisingly enough, he gloved one off Shillingford to a fielder close-in.

So did Michael Clarke and Michael Hussey. In fact, Hussey’s reaction to his dismissal was telling for a game that is only one day old – an off-spinner from Shillingford bounced off his gloves and he wrung his hands in pain after he knew he was caught!

Shillingford ended on 4/77 in 34 overs with the unbeaten eighth wicket stand between Matthew Wade and Mitchell Starc being a saviour.

Still, on a track that has so much bounce in it, a score of 250 in the first innings may not be an under-par score. Australia will obviously aim for much more.

West Indies will not want the opponents to get to beyond 250 though, and the keen tussle between the bat and the ball should continue in the first session. It is the West Indian first innings that could be a crucial factor in the game.
