Floyd Mayweather is the biggest name in boxing. Period. He has a commanding record of 43 wins and 0 losses.

Fighting professionally for 16 years, he has never tasted defeat.

Mayweather boasts unbeatable defence having never been knocked out in 43 fights. He uses an old school technique known as the “shoulder roll” and very rarely gets cleanly hit. He has finished fights looking like he just went for a run not baring any scars or cuts.

He possesses some of the fastest hands in boxing. He is the biggest name in boxing and that’s why his fights have consistently broken pay per view records. He has won fights against boxing legends Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley (who was undefeated at the time) Ricky Hatton and Diego Coralles, Mexican hero Juan Manuel Marquez and Jose Luis Castillo.

Mayweather’s fight with De La Hoya set the record of 2.4 million pay per view buys, but it has been said his most recent fight with Cotto may well break that record once the numbers come in.

Mayweather has formed a strong relationship with TV network HBO and the money he makes from these fights has set an unprecedented high for money in sport. Last week he fought Miguel Cotto the current WBA Super World light middleweight champion.

Mayweather won the fight in a unanimous decision scored 117-111 on two cards. Mayweather used his renowned speed and defence to secure the victory. Before the fight he was given the biggest guaranteed purse ever in boxing, a record $32 million. After the fight Mayweather said his team “would do numbers” and the total would be around $60-70 million.

There are many great fighters and legends throughout boxing history, with Muhammad Ali known as perhaps the greatest of all time. Floyd’s record of whom he has fought, the class he has won all of the fights with as well as his unmatched earnings all support his case to be known as the best ever.

The one fight left on everyone’s mind is the match-up of with Manny Pacquiao, who has 54 wins, three losses and two draws. Floyd could well surpass all the legends of the sport with a victory against Pacquiao.

Negotiations continue, but Pacquiao doesn’t want to take Olympic standard blood testing that Mayweather wants close to the fight, as he believes it will weaken him, leading to doping rumours.

Mayweather is the number one in the welterweight division world rankings, with Pacquiao at number two. Floyd Mayweather called out Bob Arum (Pacquiao’s boss) saying he had offered $40million and he still won’t agree.

Floyd has to be the favourite for the Pacquiao fight, as he has dominated the only man that has troubled Manny, Juan Manuel Marquez. If he wins, it will silence the debate as to who is the best of all time.
