In the past few weeks, we have seen it all from Kevin Pietersen. First, he retired from One Day internationals and then the T20 format.

He then scored a super impressive 149 in the second Test match against South Africa.

In the emotional press conference that followed the century, Pietersen vowed to play for England in all three formats again.

Now we have the infamous text message drama.

Following this, KP has been dropped from the England side.

In all that is going on regarding Pietersen right now, let me ask you this: Can the England team really afford to drop Kevin?

Pietersen is the sole reason that England still has a chance to retain their number one Test spot in the world rankings.

Had he not hit his unbelievable century in the previous match, not to mention the three wickets that he took, England would have lost the match, the series and also their number one spot.

So in all the chaos that is going on, the ECB are killing their own chances of drawing the series by dropping Pietersen.

Also, if they still fail to keep Kevin in the T20 squad for the World Cup, they will lose any hope of defending their title this year.

And if the ECB insist on dropping KP, surely Morgan would be a better replacement than Bairstow? Only Morgan can come close to matching KP’s strike power.
