Sydney FC will be looking to make it back to back wins when they host Western Sydney Wanderers in what looks a spicy Sydney derby at Allianz Stadium tonight. We’ll have live scores from 7.45pm AEDT.

There is no denying the fact that they still sit bottom, but things look decidedly better for the Sky Blues than they did only one week ago.

Following a 2-1 win in Wellington in which Jason Culina played a controlling hand and Frank Farina tasted success in his first match in charge, the club signed former Newcastle starlet Joel Griffiths toward the end of the week.

Both Pascal Bosschaart and Adam Griffiths have returned from injuries and are beginning to form a centre-half pairing, and Brett Emerton and Terry Antonis now returns from Socceroos duty.

Oh, and a striker named Alessandro Del Piero looks set to return from a hamstring injury that kept him out of last week’s win.

It’s hard not to think they’ll come into their second-ever Sydney derby riding high on confidence and expecting all three points against their new neighbours.

Not that Tony Popovic’s Wanderers outfit will mind.

Written off as a hastily-cobbled together list of journeymen at the beginning of the season, the red and black been a model of consistency throughout the year and deserve their current spot in the six.

They weren’t great in their win over Brisbane last Sunday evening but they got the job done, and continue to pick up vital points.

Popovic will be grateful for the return of playmaker Aaron Mooy, who returns to Sydney after two strong performances in the 2013 East Asian Cup qualifying campaign in Hong Kong.

Sydney FC go in as favourites tonight and they probably deserve it, but it’s hard not to remember their form line spanning more than two weeks, and for this it is hard to trust Farina’s side.

Western Sydney will be burning from their 1-0 loss earlier in the season to their ‘big brothers’ and if they come to play tonight they could at least pinch a draw.
