Reds and Wallabies winger Digby Ioane has been stood down from Saturday night’s Super Rugby game after an alleged weekend assault at the Mount Erica Hotel in Prahran, Victoria.

Queensland Rugby Union and Ioane have agreed the player should be suspended for the match at Suncorp Stadium following his involvement in an alleged assault at a Melbourne pub.

Ioane will miss an Australian derby, with the Western Force travelling to Suncorp Stadium.

In a statement, the QRU said:

“Queensland Rugby will stand down Digby Ioane from Saturday night’s SuperRugby match against the Western Force.

“Discussions were held and all parties agreed Digby failed to demonstrate the necessary behaviours expected of a senior Reds player.

“The decision relates to the expectation on him as a senior member of the team and is not an outcome of enquiries made by Victorian Police.”
