With UEFA Champion’s League spots up for grabs, the last few weeks of the English Premier League season are sure to be nothing short of fascinating.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all within three points of each other but there are only two remaining Champions League positions, meaning one will fall short.

Other teams in contention are Manchester City who are currently in second spot, six points ahead and seemingly assured of second spot, and Everton who are a further three points away from the fifth placed Spurs, having played one game more.

Arsenal, currently in fourth position, is in a fragile position as they have played 35 matches, one more than Chelsea and Spurs.

The run home for Arsene Wenger’s men may look relatively easy however it won’t be.

QPR, Wigan and Newcastle are all at the bottom end of the ladder and two of these teams are desperate for points to avoid relegation while QPR are now just playing for pride.

Managing to get a point against Manchester United last weekend may prove to be very important for the Gunners.

Chelsea has two crucial games in the next fortnight, taking on United this weekend and then Spurs.

There will be much interest on the match against Spurs as all the clubs vying for a European spot will have a lot weighing on that result.

If Chelsea can get maximum points from these next two games, Rafael Benitez’s men will surely have cemented third spot.

Tottenham’s interest goes well beyond just the status of breaking into the top tier of English football.

There has been a lot of speculation recently over whether Spurs superstar Gareth Bale will stay at White Hart Lane if his club can’t scrape into the top four.

Bale has been the stand out player in the Premier League this season and was recently named both PFA Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

Bale’s form has led him to gain plenty of attention from many of the big spending clubs in Europe. Tottenham have put a huge price tag on the 23-year-old, however there are clubs who are willing to pay the money for the Welsh wonder.

Whether he will stay at Tottenham if they fail to make the Champions League is a question not easy to answer, particularly now that teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona will want to improve after the way they meekly departed from the Champions League earlier this week.

As well as their game against Chelsea, Spurs play Southampton, Stoke and Sunderland who are all in the lower half of the table and looking for points to ensure they are not placed under any relegation pressure.

The latter end of the season always brings huge crowds to witness there teams desperation to gain those last few points to achieve a European spot or avoid relegation. The next few weeks will be sure to throw up a few twists and turns.
