State rivals Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions do battle at the SCG in a battle with on the surface looks like David vs Goliath. Join us right here for live scores and commentary from 1.10pm AEST.

Today’s installment of this rivalry has the two teams looking to achieve entirely different goals.

The Swans have been extremely up and down while also being perfect at times during this season. Thankfully for the Swans, their soft draw allows the red-and-white to warm into this season.

Sydney will be hungry to make a statement against the lowly Lions in preperation for the grand final rematch next Saturday night against Hawthorn.

As for the Lions, the uphill battle against the Swans appears impossible even after a confidence-boosting 28-point win against the Demons last week.

A terrifying statistic for the Lions is their lack of scoring oppertunities. Only the Bulldogs and Demons have scored less points In season 2013 then Michael Voss’ team.

The Lions forward line of Jonathon Brown, Aaron Cornelius, Josh Green must improve their output for the Lions to be considered a threat to any team this season.

Room for improvement in the game of Lewis Jetta and Sam Reid is also huge as the pair have only combined for five goals this season with only two in the last three weeks.

If they don’t come up big tody the could face the axe ahead of a juggernaught clash next week.

To summarise, this game will come down to the clearances, contested possesions which the Swans are both ranked first in the AFL.

The fact the Swans don’t give up huge scores and the Lions can’t score smells like trouble to me.
