State of whatever: give me NRL any day

State of Origin is coming up soon and the media hype will go into overdrive the coming days.

I, however, have become indifferent as I prefer if my club wins a premiership rather than my state wins Origin.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way as every season most NRL sides get hampered by Origin.

This in turn has an impact upon the quality and crowds of club games.

In the past, it was theorised that Origin was consider an equaliser for the club competition as the stronger clubs will be temporarily weakened giving the weaker clubs the opportunity to gain a few wins.

A more recent example of this is the Melbourne Storm who each year lose the big three during the Origin period and become more susceptible to losing.

The premiership chances of all teams are affected. Some in a positive way and some in the negative.

Teams that are free of Origin stars can capitalise and gain momentum, giving them an advantage over teams affected by the selection of their State of Origin players.

With Queensland winning seven in a row already, I prefer if my club finally wins that elusive premiership over another Origin.

What do you think, Roarers? What takes precedence for you, NRL or Origin victory?
