Origin 2013 will be closer than you think

It’s funny how people read into the last seven years of this great rivalry and come to the conclusion Queensland is just too good.

People seem to forget that in last year’s decider, Queensland won an epic Origin series by defeating New South Wales 21-20.

The game was a funny one. Brent Tate clearly punching Paul Gallen in the play the ball in the second minute, and earning the penalty.

In addition to this, the obstruction try awarded to Justin Hodges was dumbfounding.

I might add to this that New South Wales would’ve won the series had this try been correctly ruled upon.

The days of being able to pick a footy match match before it’s even begun are over. It’s no different with State Of Origin.

I really like the Blues chances this year. Again, I think there are a few bizarre selections in the team, but I believe it is still a 17 that can get the job done.

Queensland will fancy their chances at making it eight in a row. But New South Wales have shown time and time again they refuse to be walked over. The boys south of the border are always just pipped in the decider.

At least that’s been the case the last few series, we’re getting closer.

I just think both 17s are contrasting, and the side that sticks to their game plan will be eventual winners. But to those Maroon supporters expecting a dominant series win, I believe you have another thing coming.
