Campbell Brown. Son of Mal Brown. Brawler, thug, bully, tough, cheat, loser, hack.
I’ve heard both young and old use these words to describe both players.
Personally, on the whole I’ve never liked Campbell.
He has been suspended too many times for selfish acts, he has carried on like an idiot during that famous brawl against the ‘Dons and in general I just disagreed with what he said.
However, recently, especially this season I have been delighted with his work, on-field and off-field.
Head over the ball = tough. King hitting someone or raising an elbow when you bump = weak.
Yes Ablett is in Brownlow form and some of the kids are starring, but I reckon Brown’s improvement is an underrated part of Gold Coast’s success so far this season.
This article is more about an interview I recently saw, and how coming from a man stereotypically viewed as a ‘man’s man’ (whatever that means) I thought it was great to show these words from someone viewed as he is by the public.

To me this is what is needed. For someone like Brown to show it’s ok to show yourself and open up to a mate. You are more of a man, not less.
So this article is a big tick for Brown.
