The over-reaction by league fans over the banning of the ‘biff’ shows how backwards thinking the code is at times.

Last week, referees’ boss Daniel Anderson announced that throwing punches will give the offender ten minutes in the bin.

The uproar against this decision has been strong.

There are many out there thinking a punch-up is good for the game, when it’s the complete opposite.

Those who actually like the code should admire it for the skill and talent that is on display not blatant thuggery that can at times erupt.

As the saying goes, play the ball not the man.

Rugby league is about getting the ball over the line, not punching someone in the face.

The fact there are those who think the ‘biff’ is necessary need to give themselves a good look in the mirror and ask themselves if they like rugby league.

Fighting is not necessary for rugby league to be successful

The game itself should sell itself without the need of the biff.

Time to move on from the dinosaur era and embrace modern age for once.

Rugby league you can do it, too bad some supporters can’t.
