Matchday 10 of the Serie A begins this morning with Inter Milan travelling to Bergamo to meet Atalanta. Join us for live scores and commentary from 6.45am AEDT.

It’s that time of the year where matches are squeezed into every possible opportunity with midweek rounds and cup games taking place across Europe.

Kicking off the round in Italy as the only Tuesday fixture is ninth placed Atalanta at home to fourth placed Inter Milan in the battle of the Nerazzurri colours.

Inter enters the midweek fixture off the back of a pleasing win at home to the over-achieving Hellas Verona.

After picking up only two points from the last three games, dearly missing the defensive figure of Hugo Campagnaro, Inter were keen to force themselves back into the winners circle and two early goals from two corners went a long way to ensuring this.

Despite the win, Inter still showed the odd defensive lapses and were lacklustre in the final thirty minutes of the game.

With Campagnaro still missing through injury, Walter Mazzarri will be continually focused on strengthening the Nerazzurri backline.

It seemed that Esteban Cambiasso’s substitution had a direct correlation to a loss of control over the Verona game and given the tight scheduling, a cover for the holding midfielder position could be key for Inter.

Welcoming Inter to Bergamo is the somewhat unpredictable Atalanta.

At home, they have so far proved to be a considerable obstacle with three wins and the one loss at the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

More impressive is the fact the three wins have included significant the scalps of Lazio and Udinese, with the only loss coming
against a very strong Fiorentina outfit.

Given the quality of opposition played, sitting in ninth position for the (other) Nerazzurri is quite an impressive start to the season, after finishing the 2012-2013 edition in 15th.

Atalanta will be keen to try and take advantage of Campagnaro’s absence, with Luca Cigarini sure to lead the way. Il Professore (the professor), as he is nicknamed, lies equal second in the league for assists (five) and is very much the mastermind behind much of Atalanta’s attack.

He will no doubt keep the Inter midfield and defence busy, thus creating the space for the likes of German Denis up front.

The match-up provides an interesting outlook, where Inter’s quality should ensure they control much of the match, however Atalanta will put up a significant fight to try and take away at least a point from the game.
