Mitchell Johnson. A man England fear to play, but a man who divides Australian supporters.

There’s always been something infectious about MJ, he is a talented all rounder, passionate about the baggy green, and always puts in 110% whenever he’s selected.

He always seems to be there for Australia when we need a fight back.

So why does he divide us Aussies? Some love him, some loathe him, and some couldn’t care less.

I’ve always gotten some stick for defending him whenever the leeches are out, but what baffles me is why some Aussies moan at the sight of him in a Test team.

Yesterday afternoon, Australia lost some quick wickets, we were on the back end, and in serious need of a stable batting partnership.

Cometh the hour, cometh the men. Mitchell Johnson and another divider in Brad Haddin came to the crease and lifted Australia like a burning Phoenix and got us to an impressive 250+ at the end of play.

Mitchell put in a mature, confident and dominating batting performance that we were longing for.

If it wasn’t for his combined century with Haddin, Australia wouldn’t be in the driving seat to getting a 1-0 lead against the mother country.

Today, he has once again shown his versatility and ripped through England’s batting order with delicious bowling, that have giving us that fire we have been longing for.

He was involved in 4 of the 10 wickets in our complete annihilation of the England batsmen, that in itself deserves a helluva lot of respect.

When Mitchy’s smiling and point his hands in an angular celebration, you know he’s going to be in that sort of mood.

So why don’t us Aussies stop hating on the bloke and get behind the guy that England hate playing up against, the guy that always puts a dagger through England?

Why don’t we get behind the guy that is making our bowling look as good as this, which is something we haven’t seen in quite a while?

In Mitchy we trust.
