Anthony Minichiello says the 2014 NRL season may not be his last as he sets his sights on becoming the Sydney Roosters’ longest serving player.

This year, Minichiello’s 15th in the NRL, was widely believed to be his last after the premiership-winning captain signed a 12-month deal with the Tricolours last month.

But the former Test and State of Origin star is yet to make a decision on his future and may play on again in 2015.

“I’m not going to say it’s my last season (this season) completely, I’ll head into the season and weigh things up when I feel it’s appropriate,” Minichiello told reporters on Wednesday.

“It’s hard to say when I’ll decide, I’ll get into the first part of the season and just see how we’re going as a club.

“The main thing is the body and how it’s feeling and how the mind’s feeling I suppose.”

Since making his NRL debut in 2000, one-club man Minichiello has played 275 first grade games for the Roosters. He is the club’s all-time leading tryscorer with 122 and sits second behind Luke Ricketson (301 games) in the number of games played.

If the 33-year-old manages to play every game and the Roosters advance deep into the finals, Minichiello could break Ricketson’s record this season. If he plays on again in 2015 he certainly will.

Minichiello was a rock at the back for the Roosters in their premiership winning year last season but could be moved to the wing this year to accommodate the rise of fleet-footed Kiwi international Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

“It doesn’t worry me if I get moved,” Minchiello said.

“Whatever the coach thinks is best for the team I’m happy to do. I’ll just stick to training and whatever the boss wants is fine.”

Minichiello said he was unlikely to play in the NRL Auckland Nines next month with his focus on the Roosters’ trial against Newcastle that weekend ahead of the World Club Challenge the week after against Wigan at Allianz Stadium on February 22.
