Although the 2014/15 A-League Season has not been announced as of yet, Dave Gallop and the A-League managers have the most important 10 months ever in the history of the competition.

Rumour is that the two biggest stars in the A-League, Shinji Ono and Alessandro Del Piero, are leaving.

This means the Sydney will be market bereft of stars.

Adelaide, Central Coast and Wellington already do not have international marquee players.

William Gallas and Harry Kewell have been injured the majority of the season. But thank god that Besart Berisha has gone to Melbourne instead of leaving the competition.

With the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the Socceroos playing some of the greatest countries in the world on the biggest stage, the A-League really needs to capitalise.

What about competition from cricket? There is no Ashes next year, although a resurgent India might provide a larger challenge than many expect.

Gallop and the A-League managers must, must sign some huge names, and get the A-League on the front page.

It is a huge opportunity, one that cannot be wasted.

To be honest, nothing else in Australian football really matters, except maybe avoiding getting belted 4-0 4-0 4-0 in Brazil.

Players like Tim Cahill, Thierry Henry, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs must be on the cards for a run in the A-League.

Other players, like Frank Lampard, who have been fighting to play one last world cup, must be looked into.

These marquee players cannot be defenders, as shown by Emile Heskey. We need quality attacking players to bring the fans through the gate.

Anyway, bring on the discussion. Who do you think the A-League should target? And who do you think they can reasonably get?
