After 14 matches this season, Melbourne Heart sat on zero wins, five draws, and nine losses. In the past six rounds, they have won five and drawn one.

Needless to say, their resurgence has caught a few teams off guard.

In particular, their 5-0 drubbing of the Phoenix in Wellington was a stunning display of how far they have come in such a short time.

A month ago, Melbourne Victory would have entered this match as firm favourites, occupying a respectable place on the ladder, while the Heart struggled for every point.

The Heart still sit equal last, five places below the Victory, but in a testament to their incredible run of form, remarkably enter the match tonight as favourites.

With the competition so tightly poised, and six rounds still to come, the Heart are now eyeing an unlikely finals appearance.

But in order to stay on track, they will need to account for their cross-town rivals tonight.

While the Victory’s recent form may not be quite on par with the Heart, it is certainly nothing to scoff at.

In the past two weeks they have had impressive wins against Adelaide United (4-3 at home) and the Newcastle Jets (3-1 away).

As a result, they will enter this match full of confidence.

Not to mention the Victory have not lost to the Heart since October 5, 2012.

So, will Melbourne Heart continue their incredible resurgence and account for Melbourne Victory tonight?

Or will the Victory show that they are still the strongest footballing force in Melbourne?

Join The Roar for live scores from 7:45pm (AEDT).
