There is still hope for Todd Carney

Todd Carney is fast, he can kick a goal, and set up a try effortlessly. He’s played for his country and for his state, he’s even won the Dally M Medal.

He’s also been kicked out of three different clubs and the whole country has seen him drinking his own urine.

A lot has been written about Todd Carney lately and I’d like to add my humble, non-expert opinion.

Carney needs to be playing in our great game. The Sharks were crazy to terminate his contract. He should have been punished, fined and suspended for a few matches but not fired.

No NRL fan out there is applauding his behaviour, he was stupid and downright disgusting, but I for one will miss watching him play. He was the best on the field on Friday night against the Broncos and I want to see him in our game again because he is talented and I can’t stand to see talent like that wasted.

I’m a diehard Cowboys fan and if he wanted to play for us, I would be all for it. Give him the rest of the year out of the competition, get him out of Sydney, dry him out and make him train like never before. Then sign him up for 2015.

It’s worked for other troubled players like Robert Lui, heck even Johnathan Thurston went through a rough patch.

I don’t know what the future holds for Todd Carney, but I hope it involves rugby league. The game needs him and he certainly needs the game.
