The Socceroos’ desire for more high quality matches is gaining momentum with a friendly set against Belgium on September 4.

Belgium announced the friendly on its official Twitter account on Monday.

“We’ll be welcoming the @Socceroos for a friendly on September 4th ! Prepping for the @UEFAeuro qualifiers. Excited !”.

The European side had a strong World Cup, losing 1-0 to eventual finalists Argentina at the quarter-final stage in a keenly contested match.

Belgium is ranked No.11 in the world.

Australia is seeking a number of quality international fixtures in the lead-up to January’s Asian Cup which will be hosted on the east coast.

The Socceroos were eliminated at the group stage in Brazil after three successive losses but generally garnered plaudits with their inexperienced team pushing both Chile and The Netherlands before a 3-0 loss to 2010 champions Spain.

Football Federation Australia has yet to announce the fixture, to be played in Belgium.
