I’m sorry Robbie Farah but “the coach has improved this year” and “the coach is doing his best” isn’t exactly an endorsement of Mick Potter. It is what wasn’t said that is most damning aspect of Robbie Farah’s Footy Show interview.

There was plenty of “Mick is a good bloke”, “we get along fine” and “we have coffee every week” but at no stage was there a “Mick is a good coach” or a “I want Mick to be our coach.”

Robbie, if you rated Mick Potter, a simple statement of support is all that is necessary to see the end of the fuss. Even after Gorden Tallis revealed your thoughts of 15 months ago, a simple “Look that is what I thought then but we have turned the corner now and I no longer think that way” would have settled things.

But you couldn’t bring yourself to so obviously go against your true thoughts, meaning that Tallis’ assessment must be close to the truth.

Now it appears that you are gunning for the CEO’s job. Grant Mayer may or may not be the best CEO in the NRL, but it is outrageous for an employee to come out so openly gunning for the head man’s job and in the same breath say that he just wants to be a player and not get involved.

Just “I want to be left out of this. I want to let the club decide who the best coach is and just play football.”

I’m sorry Robbie but you obviously want to choose who makes that decision and by not endorsing the coach I think you have made your feelings more than clear.

You are just lucky your friends on the Footy Show panel let you get away with it.
