The UFC hosted an open workout for fans and media on Wednesday at the UFC Gym in Sydney.

The following are select quotes from some of the fighters set to do battle at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold versus Bisping this Saturday at the Allphones Arena.

“He’s big, but he’s not that big. He’s still human – he’s got two arms, two legs and a chin. I don’t think I’ll ever be in a position where I’m getting absolutely manhandled and rag-dolled so I’m happy to go against it.”

“I had five cupcakes. So yes.”
– Robert Whittaker on facing Clint Hester and whether or not he ate any cake at his recent wedding.

“He’s coming up but he got bigger and stronger, that plus the athleticism. I’m going to have to show him that we’re just as athletic in the middleweight division as [they are] in the welterweight division. I think he’ll do good in the division but I’m glad I get to welcome him to middleweight.”
– Clint Hester on Robert Whittaker’s move to middleweight.

“Thailand’s been good. Mike Swick and his camp there have been awesome. I initially went there on the 12th week and was going to finish my camp here for the last eight weeks but instead I just stayed the whole time.”
– Soa Palelei on his recent training at AKA Thailand.

“I love being the underdog. I’ve been the underdog my whole life. It never affects me; it actually helps me. It makes me more game. It makes me more dangerous, I believe, than being the favourite. Being the underdog, I haven’t even thought about it. I’m in his country and I like to be the villain so let’s go get it.”
– Walt Harris on his underdog status.

“I don’t feel pressure because what everyone expects of me is what I expect of myself anyway. Everyone expects me to win this fight, I expect myself to win this fight. It’s not any more pressure than what I put on myself. I don’t suffer nerves, I don’t feel pressure, I just go out and do what I need to do.”
– Jake Matthews on the pressure that his potential brings.

“The standard is the same. Don’t get me wrong, the main difference is the number of sparring partners. Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn are the best coaches in the world in my opinion and in many other people’s opinion but it really it comes down to the number of sparring partners. I go to my gym and I have 10 fighters fighting on the local level but when you go over there it’s like 30 fighters all fighting in the UFC or other bigger shows. That’s really the main thing; the numbers.”
– Anthony Perosh on the differences in training at home and in the U.S.

“It was going to be really tough to juggle the two as far as rehab and strength training, getting the shoulder back to where it needed to be and also worrying about the weight cut. We thought as a team that the best option for me right now with the recovery was to stay at middleweight, for this fight at least. We’ll see what happens after this.”
– Dylan Andrews on his decision to stay at middleweight

“I was just glad I’ve got an opponent, to be honest. This is my third opponent for this fight prep. [I’m over the moon] to be fighting in my hometown and I just didn’t want that taken away. The fact that they’ve got me a new opponent, I’m not bothered who it is. I just focus on what I can control in my preparation and that’s all I’ve got to worry about. My opponent changes but they’re all great fighters in the UFC. Doesn’t matter who you step in there with, it’s going to be a tough fight.”
– Richie Vaculik on his third change in opponent
