Roger Federer is back at Melbourne Park and many believe that this is his year. Tonight he starts his campaign in Melbourne after getting off to a perfect start in Brisbane. Could this be the year that Roger wins his fifth Australian Open? Join us on The Roar from around 7:00pm (AEDT) for live scores and commentary on this match.

Federer has done it all in Men’s Tennis. With 83 career titles, 1000 ATP Tour wins, seven Wimbledon’s, five US Opens and an 81.5% win rate, the man has completely dominated the sport.

However Roger’s last grand slam title came in 2012, when he won at Wimbledon against Andy Murray. Since then Federer has come close on numerous occasions, yet he hasn’t been able to finish off the tournament the way he would like too.

This tournament seems like his best chance yet.

Firstly, he must get through the opening round. Lu Yen-Hsun from Taiwan is currently ranked 47 on the tour. The 31 year old has been consistently in the top 50 in the world, despite never winning an ATP Tour title.

In 2014 he remained the top ranked player from Chinese Taipei, and earlier this year he beat Juan Monaco in Auckland and he made the QF’s in Chennai.

Tonight he faces his biggest test in Rod Laver Arena and unfortunately he is up against arguably the best player we have seen.

You would love to see Lu put up a good fight, but this will be all Roger tonight. Expect the Swiss to ease into the tournament and win in three relatively comfortable sets.
