Football Federation have issues a ‘show cause’ notice to Perth Glory over allegations of a failure to disclose reportable player payments for the past three A-League seasons.

The league has said there is no allegation the club exceeded the salary cap, but there is concern regarding the reporting of the payments made to players across the three seasons.

It appears that the payments relate to benefits paid to players for accommodation costs, car allowances and third party agents deals that are all reportable under the A-League salary cap.

The alleged failure to disclose the payments over the three years were uncovered in an audit of the club’s affairs conducted by the league.

The punishment for any offence found will vary depending on the severity. If Perth are found to have not breached the salary cap, then a fine is the likely result.

If they are found to have breached the cap, then the punishment would be much more severe.

Perth Glory currently sit top of the A-League ladder after 16 games, a point clear of Melbourne Victory.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today issued Perth Glory Football Club with a show cause notice relating to alleged “failure to disclose reportable payments” in relation to the club’s Total Player Payments.

The show cause notice does not allege that these payments resulted in the club exceeding the salary cap in the relevant years.

The alleged breaches involve failure to disclose benefits to players relating to accommodation costs, car allowances and the payment of third party agents fees for the 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15 Hyundai A-League seasons.

FFA will send staff back to Perth next week to continue the detailed audit of the club’s affairs.
