Sydney-based mixed martial artist Mark ‘Super Samoan’ Hunt (10-9-1), is being targeting to lock horns with Stipe Miocic (12-2), at the UFC’s Fight Night event in Adelaide.

Currently ranked fifth in the UFC’s heavyweight division, Hunt will be looking to bounce back after his defeat at the hands of Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1) in the main event of UFC 180 last November in Mexico.

The Super Samoan took the fight for the interim title on short notice, just two months after his emphatic knock-out of Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson (20-9). The finish earned him knockout of the year honours for 2014.

Hunt’s popularity has risen dramatically all over world since his incredible fight against Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva (18-5, 1NC) in Brisbane in 2013. The contest ended in a majority draw, with one judge giving the fight to Hunt.

The bout received fight of the night honours, however after Silva tested positive for elevated testosterone levels, Hunt was awarded the full $100,000 bonus.

Fourth-ranked heavyweight prospect Miocic is coming off a hard-fought decision loss against former heavyweight champion Junior ‘Cigano’ Dos Santos (17-3) in December of last year.

Miocic will want to return to his old form, which saw him quickly rise up the heavyweight rankings, and perhaps earn a shot at the interim-title against Werdum.

Current champion Cain Velasquez (13-1) is still sidelined due to injury, and there have been no talks of him returning to the octagon any time soon.

UFC Fight Night: Sydney took place last November, and a blockbuster UFC event is being planned for Melbourne later on in 2015.

UFC Fight Night: Adelaide is set to take place at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on May 10.

No other bouts have been announced for the card as of yet.
