Contract rebel Raheem Sterling is one of the brightest young talents in the English Premier League. Liverpool currently value Sterling to be worth €50 million and a host of top clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid are vying for his signature.

City in the past few days have had a transfer fee of €30 million rejected and although Liverpool are holding out for a bid in the region of €50 million, Manchester City will be hopeful that a bid of €40 million in the next 48 hours will be enough to tempt Liverpool to sell their 20-year-old star.

This bid for Sterling is part of their predicted major summer upheaval and City are reportedly ready to splash the cash in order to regain a prominent position in the league and a good showing in the Champions League after a bitterly disappointing 2014-15 season.

Along with the Sterling bid they have made offers for the French international Paul Pogba and are pursuing former Premier League player Kevin de Bruyne, who is currently rated around €30 million.

Their current focus is, however, to land Sterling with a personal contract of around €190,000 a week, which is almost double that of Liverpool’s offer.

For Liverpool they may decide to cash in on the contract rebel in order to generate funds for their own summer spending spree. They have already secured the likes of James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan on free transfers and they look like they have only begun their transfer business.

A player Liverpool are aiming to bring to the club is 21-year-old midfielder Mateo Kovacic who is known for his box-to-box midfield style and Liverpool have reportedly agreed a personal deal with the player with the transfer fee yet to be set.

Liverpool also plan to make a move to pip Chelsea for the Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao. Jose Mourinho made it known that he felt he could bring out the best in Falcao and bring him back to the top however the attraction of a starting spot could lure him to Liverpool with his desire to play consistent first team football.

In other news Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is on the verge of a €7 million deal to move to Liverpool as the 24-year-old’s future at Barcelona seems grim after the contract extension of Dani Alves in recent weeks.

What Brendan Rodgers chooses to do about Sterling is one thing but the demand for stars from Liverpool supporters is something known to all. This transfer window is likely to be eventful and Rogers will need to do some smart business to hopefully bring Liverpool back into title contention next season.
