The San Antonio Spurs had a bit of a dissapointing season in 2014-15. They made the playoffs but were unable to make it to the conference semi-finals.

The Spurs are a fantastic side, we all know that. They won the championship just two seasons ago and looked great doing it. Last season they struggled during the regular season as they lost quite a few games early and their confidence plummeted.

After the All Star game, the Spurs started to pick up the pace a bit. They were winning games consistently and looked like they were that same championship team. They reached the playoffs quite comfortably and came up against the Los Angeles Clippers.

It was a close series, but the Clippers prevailed and it ended a rather disappointing season for the Spurs.

San Antonio have a great side, and the two-time MVP in Tim Duncan is the leader of the charge. He is very talented in the post and pulls down a lot of rebounds. He is a massive part of the team.

Tony Parker is an absolute gun, he is 33 but plays like he is 25. Parker is quick, a great shooter and reads the play so well. Meanwhile Kawhi Leonard, the massive 24-year-old from California, is the Spurs’ next big thing. He can shoot, grab rebounds and be the playmaker for the team. He is at such a raw age and I can’t wait to see him get better.

The Spurs recruited really well over the off-season. They picked up big men LaMarcus Aldridge and the former pacer David West, who are perfect replacements for when Duncan retires. Tiago Splitter went to the Hawks, but they were able to quickly replace him with these big guys.

Off the bench, the Spurs have Aussie Patty Mills and of course Manu Ginobili. They are two of the best shooters in the game and provide heaps off the bench. When the starting five are tired, it’s like a brand new starting five just as good can come on.

As Duncan, Parker and Ginobili get older, the chances of them winning one more are getting slimmer. This is the last year that the Spurs will have a big shot of winning the championship. Yes, they do have great replacements for then, but are they championship contenders? Who knows.

I think the Spurs will have a fantastic year, I think they will be strong enough to win the conference in the west and maybe even go all the way. If they keep healthy, it will be exciting to see what they can do.

Hopefully they have one more under their name by the end of the season, because if they don’t they will go without for a long time.
