Exciting point guard Jerome Randle has arrived in the NBL and has immediately made an impact for the Adelaide 36ers.

Signed to replace injured import guard Keyon McNeail who injured his shoulder in the NBL Blitz tournament in Townsville, Randle has bounced into the NBL averaging 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game in his two games to date.

The 28-year-old guard from Chicago came off the bench in his debut NBL game on October 21 to score 24 points and had 3 assists in just 23 minutes of action.

“He was a huge influence. I mean he’s exactly what we’ve been missing with Keyon (Keyon McNeail) out injured” said 36ers coach Joey Wright after the game.

The 175cm, 77kg guard signed a deal with the 36ers for season 2015-16 season and in both games to date the 36ers have won.

Randle turned pro in 2010 and spent the year playing NBA summer league for Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards before crossing to the Turkish Basketball League and suiting up for Aliağa Petkim.

Randle also spent time playing in the NBA summer league for the Dallas Mavericks (2011) Memphis Grizzlies (2012) Los Angeles Clippers (2013) and most recently Milwaukee Bucks.

Before finding his way to the 36ers he represented Ukraine in Euro Basket 2015, averaging 13.2 points, 2 rebounds and 4.4 assists in five games. In his best game he scored 22 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in a 71-78 loss to Estonia.

Adelaide 36ers coach Joey Wright knows how important Randle will be for the remainder of the season. “(He’s) someone that can make a decision off the dribble, we’re still getting used to him, he’s such a great player”.

The 36ers are sitting on 3-2 after five games and exciting times are ahead. With Randle leading the charge along with forward Anthony Petrie and veteran guard Ebi Ere, the 36ers could be the surprise packet of the season.

If the 36ers are to advance to another semi final, Jerome Randle will hold the key.

The NBL as a whole is exciting these days, with lots of great talent out on the floor. Players of Randle’s skill set and ilk will only enhance it.
