2015 Dubai Sevens - Australian men's and women's teams start times, dates, TV schedule

The Australian men’s and women’s teams are looking to make a statement at the 2015 Dubai Sevens tournament as they prepare for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

The women’s tournament begins on Thursday (AEDT), while the men’s tournament begins on Friday (AEDT).

The Australian men’s team is in Pool D and will face Kenya, Wales and England in their three pools matches, beginning Friday evening (AEDT).

Australia men’s fixtures
Australia v Kenya, Friday 4 December 6.36pm AEDT
Australia v Wales, Friday 4 December 10.20pm AEDT
Australia v England, Saturday 5 December 3.42am AEDT

On the second day the tournament progresses to a knockout stage and Australia’s match-ups will depend on how well they performed during the pools stage.

They need to finish in the top two of their pool to progress to the quarter-finals, which will begin at approximately 6:00pm AEDT on Saturday. The men’s final will begin at 3:12am AEDT on Sunday.

The entire men’s tournament will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 with coverage starting at 3:50pm AEDT on Friday, and 8:30pm AEDT on Saturday.

Viewers will be able to used the red button option on their remotes to view the quarter finals from 6:00pm AEDT on Saturday, as these are not directly televised.

The Australian women’s team is in Pool C, and will face Spain, Japan and England in their three pools matches, beginning on Thursday evening (AEDT).

With only three pools in the women’s competition, the women’s team needs to either finish in the top two of their pool or be one of the two better third-place teams at the end of the pools stage to progress to the quarter-finals.

The women’s final is scheduled to take place at 12:30am AEDT on Saturday morning.

Only a small portion of the women’s tournament will be televised, with coverage beginning at 11:10pm AEDT on Friday evening, and going through until the end of the women’s final.
