The Brisbane Roar want a win to keep their spot on top of the A-League table certain when they face Adelaide United on Friday night. Join The Roar for live scores from the match beginning at 7:00pm local time, 8:00pm AEDT.

Brisbane currently find themselves on top of the A-League table, but only by a single point, with the Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC nipping at their heels. A slip-up tonight could very well mean the end of their time at the top.

They come up against an Adelaide United side that has found some excellent form recently which has seen the Reds rise into sixth where they currently sit four points clear of seventh-placed Wellington Phoenix, and four short of fifth-place Melbourne Victory.

Brisbane definitely enter this match knowing that they have more to lose. The Wanderers in particular have a very winnable match against the Central Coast Mariners this week – while Sydney face a sterner test, Melbourne Victory – so they will want to keep their fate in their own hands with a win.

That said, if Adelaide intend to rise into the top five at any point during this season it is matches like this one that they need to start winning. We’re in the latter half of the season now, and if the Reds don’t take that step soon they are likely to find themselves in a case of too little too late.

The Roar haven’t had a win in two weeks either – suffering a goalless draw against Wellington and then a 4-0 smashing from Melbourne Victory – so they need this win not just for the points, but for the pride as well.

However with Jamie Maclaren, Brandon Borello and James Donachie all missing from the side on Ollyroos duty, they look likely to struggle against a Reds outfit that has gone without defeat in their last seven games.

Prediction: Brisbane’s outs make a win for them look unlikely, but that doesn’t necesarilly mean a loss either. Tipping a draw, 1-1.
