The Phoenix Suns desperately need to try and turn their season around, but there won’t be many more difficult ways to do it than hosting the in-form San Antonio Spurs at the Talking Stick Resort Arena. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:30pm (AEDT).

Phoenix currently sit third last in the Western Conference, and it looks like this will be another miss match between the two teams when you consider the form the Suns have been in recently. The Spurs hold a record of 13 wins and 30 losses from their 43 games.

Their recent form though has been the worst stretch of the season, playing abysmal basketball and losing 16 of their last 18 games. In fact, all but six of those 16 losses have been by more than 10 points.

To turn things around, the Suns must play better basketball on both ends of the court, and as a team. Defence has to be the number one priority – or getting back to basics. Getting regular stops, and turning that into points from there. On average they are giving up 106.7 points per game which is the second highest of any team in the NBA – only behind the Sacramento Kings. Eric Bledisloe and Tyson Chandler must lead this charge.

On the other hand, the Spurs winning 18 of their last 20 games and sitting second place in the Western Conference, only 2.5 games back from the number one team in the NBA – the Golden State Warriors.

While the Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks fairly convincingly in their last game, it was a four-point win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last Thursday that will be their most satisfying. Despite being at home, they were able to effectively shut down the Cavaliers biggest names and their own, namely Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard really fired as they have done all season.

The teams have already matched up twice already this season, both at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The Spurs, at home, had no trouble putting away the Suns winning the first game by 14 points, and the second by a massive 33 indicating the skill difference between the two sides.

Prediction:
Even though they are playing at home, not even the most optimistic Suns fan would be genuinely expecting a victory out of this game against the ridiculously in form Spurs.
