For the final time this season, the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls will go head to head. It is building as an important game for both teams, so be sure to join The Roar for live scores from 11:30am (AEDT).

The Celtics have been in poor form recently, and are lucky to be narrowly clinging onto eighth position in the Eastern Conference. Despite the fact they have won 22 of their 43 games throughout the season, they have managed to lose eight of their last 12 games.

Certainly, this has seen their position on the ladder drop down and their confidence to play good basketball decrease. A match against a team like the Bulls could be enough to re-spark their failing season if they do play well and get the win.

Their last two starts were loses to the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks.

Isaiah Thomas is undoubtedly the key man for the Celtics and despite his already high level of play this season – averaging 21 points and almost seven assists per game – he must continue to step it up in order to keep the Celtics at the right end of the ladder.

The Bulls meanwhile sit in fourth place out East. In their most recent game, they took a heavy defeat from the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen Curry lit the Bulls up with points, assists and rebounds all happening and they have to be careful not to let the same thing happen for Isaiah Thomas. He, like Curry – although not on the same planet – is one player who can do it all.

For the Bulls, it must be Derrick Rose who stands up to that. Not only does he need massive output on the offensive end, but he must guide the Bulls defence, and do a massive job on Avery Bradley.

Last time these two teams met it was the Chicago Bulls who completed a nine point victory at home. Pau Gasol and Derrick Rose were the main men that night, and you would be expecting something similar this time around if the Bulls were to go on and grab the victory.

Of course, there was also a meeting back in December which the Celtics won by five points.

Prediction: Even though they are at home the Celtics just haven’t been in the form required in recent times. While the Bulls haven’t been up to scratch either they should be able to get the job done this time around with Derrick Rose having a field day against the Celtics defence.

Bulls by 8.
