Adelaide 36ers star Jerome Randle set to be back for NBL finals

Injured Adelaide 36ers star Jerome Randle is expected to be fit to play in the NBL finals series – so long as his team can qualify without him.

The 36ers got good news on Monday when scans revealed no structural damage to the American point guard’s knee from the knock suffered in Saturday’s win over the Illawarra Hawks.

However Randle is set to miss two to three weeks, which would rule him out of the team’s remaining four regular season games.

Any set backs in recovery however, could lead to him missing the semi-finals for the 36ers.

The high-scoring Randle has been arguably the most influential player in the league since arriving to join the 36ers early in the season and was favoured to win the NBL MVP award.

The 36ers are currently fourth on the ladder, two wins ahead of the defending champion New Zealand Breakers, with the top four teams advancing to the finals series. For the 36ers to continue their hot form without him is going to be an extremely difficult task, even though they should qualify for the finals, with that solid gap over the Breakers.

For the 36ers to now advance further up the ladder though, and book a home final looks to be out of reach.

“Thank you all for the support and prayers…..scary situation for me and my family, glad 2 see there are real fans n support,” Randle tweeted on Monday.
