Match preview:

The Dallas Mavericks sit right on the cusp of the Western Conference playoffs, and needing to be winning every game. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors continue their quest for the greatest ever record in an NBA regular season.

The best ever season record in the NBA, set back in 1996 by the Chicago Bulls of 72 wins and 10 losses, is under severe threat this season. The Stephen Curry-led Warriors now have a record of 61 wins and 6 losses, with 10 of their final 15 games at home.

The Warriors have won their last six matches in a row, and it is hard to see where their next loss might be coming from, as has been the case for much of the season. They simply have a complete roster, with some of the best shooters in the NBA and a few big men to lock down the paint.

The Mavericks meanwhile are holding onto their post-season dream with little more than a heavily-fraying rope. They sit in eighth place in the Western Conference, yet are only half a game away from cracking a better ranking and overtaking the Portland Trail Blazers in the all-important battle for sixth place out west.

Unfortunately, the Mavericks went on a massive losing run not so long ago, going down to teams like the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors and it won’t have them filled with confidence coming into this major match.

The sides have met twice against each other so far this season, with the Warriors dominating their last encounter, and Dallas the first, which has seen the home side take the victory on both occasions.

Dallas would win the first by 23 points, with JJ Barea and as per normal Dirk Nowitski standing up for 18 points and eight rebounds.

The second match saw the Warriors bounce back and take the win by 20 points, with Klay Thompson putting up a massive 45 points.

Prediction
The Warriors are just simply too strong. Even if they decide to rest players, the Mavericks’ form has just been far too inconsistent.

Warriors by 14.
