Match preview:

After narrowly missing out on the Six Nations championship, Wales will be keen to post a big win against Italy in their last home game of the campaign. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:30am (AEDT).

Wales could not repeat their 2015 World Cup heroics last week against England, despite scoring three tries to one against the old enemy, proving they remain the best attacking team in the northern hemisphere.

A slow start effectively killed off any hope Wales had of securing another Six Nations championship at the expense of their great rivals. Despite a strong comeback, it was not enough as Eddie Jones took the title in his first year as England coach.

Wales will be keen to take out their frustration on Italy, who have endured another poor campaign, losing all matches thus far.

Despite a commendable opening effort against France, the Azurri have since lost convincingly to Ireland, England and Scotland, thus raising major concerns about their potential on the world rugby stage.

At their best, Wales could easily put a cricket score on Italy. Like Ireland last week, Wales are one of the few northern hemisphere nations capable of producing enterprising attacking play, and this spells great trouble for Italy.

But after the tough defeat to England last week, it wouldn’t surprise to see Wales off their game slightly given that there is nothing to play for this week but pride.

With Welsh fans eager for a strong finish to the campaign however, Wales should convincingly defeat the Italians.
