Match preview:

The quest for a home first round final won’t get any easier for the Memphis Grizzlies when they go on the road to take play the San Antonio Spurs who still are yet to lose at home this season. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from 11:30am (AEDT).

The Spurs have now won 36 games at home for the season, losing zero and with six of their 11 remaining games for the season set to be played at home, they would almost be wanting to go from here to the finals undefeated.

San Antonio suffered a shock loss on the road a couple of days ago against the Charlotte Hornets but bounced back in their last match with a commanding 24-point victory over the Miami Heat.

They will be well and truly under strength for this game, with the chance to break the record for most home games won in a row. Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green are among the players who will sit on the sidelines and it will be interesting to see exactly how the Spurs perform without Leonard, who has arguably been their best player so far this season.

They may need to resort to an outside shooting game, with Leonard being a consistent big rebounder. In any case, pressure will be heaped onto the shoulders of Tim Duncan.

On the other hand, the Grizzlies currently sit fifth place in the Western Conference, just three games back from the Los Angeles Clippers who currently occupy the last home quarter final position. With a record of 41 wins and 31 losses time is starting to run out if they are to chase the Clippers down.

They come into this game having lost against the Los Angeles Lakers by seven points, and also losing five of their last seven in what has been a horror stretch of the season.

Memphis have been absolutely struck down by injuries this season, using 27 separate players. Joining those on the sidelines at this point is Zach Randolph, which has ridiculously increased the pressure on Marc Gasol. He has risen though, averaging nearly 17 points per game.

The Spurs have so far won both meetings played between the two teams this season and rather convincingly as well by 10 and 20 points.

Prediction
Despite the Grizzlies best efforts, the Spurs will remain undefeated at home with their seemingly unbreakable defence.

Spurs by 9.
