Paris Saint-Germain are looking to add another Premier League scalp as they host Manchester City in the first leg of this Champions League quarter-final. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:30am (AEST).

Having eliminated Chelsea from the Champions League in the previous round, PSG once again start strong favourites at home.

PSG have completely dominated the Ligue 1 this season, having already secured the title with seven matches left to play. This season however will not be deemed a success if they once again fail to progress past the Champions League quarter-final stage.

Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in PSG’s squad for the purpose of becoming the greatest team in all of Europe, and a loss tonight will not go down well with the club’s owners.

The same can be said for City, although there is far less pressure on Manuel Pellegrini’s shoulders, given that he will leave the club regardless of whether his side progress to the semi-finals or not.

Regardless, the Citizens still possess a squad capable of troubling PSG, especially with Kevin De Bruyne enjoying a successful return from injury against Bournemouth last week.

De Bruyne’s inclusion into the side adds plenty of potency. If the Belgian star can fire, his combination with Sergio Aguero and David Silva ensures City will ask plenty of questions.

The Manchester side’s success also depends on their ability to shut down talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 34-year-old Swedish star is enjoying one of the finest seasons of his career and will be hellbent on leading his side to a Champions League semi-final before he leaves the club at the end of the season.

Angel Di Maria is the other player City needs to keep tabs on. He has the most assists at PSG this season and knows how to deliver on the big stage, as evidenced by his match-winning performance in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.

Prediction
With both teams evenly matched on paper, PSG certainly won’t have it their own way, and though they start deserved favourites, City possess enough class in attack to secure a vital score-draw heading into the second leg.
