The Golden State Warriors will look to break the record for best NBA season ever when they take on the Memphis Grizzlies. Join The Roar for live scores from 12:30pm (AEST).

This is a make or break game for the Warriors, their final match in a season that has turned into a chase for the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls record of 72 wins in a season. Coming into this game, Golden State are tied for the record, while a win will set a new one.

It’s been a challenging week for the Warriors, with a pair of games against San Antonio – their closest rival across the league – of which they were impressively able to win both.

While Golden State have won three games in a row, there are still many questions surrounding their defence, which seems to be the key catalyst every time they have fallen to a defeat this season.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies, who have suffered from injuries all season long, have been in a particularly rough stretch of their season over the last few weeks. They’ve gone from fighting for a home final to falling all the way back down to seventh position in the west.

Coming into this game, Memphis hold a record of 42 wins and 39 losses, equal with the sixth-placed Dallas Mavericks. But the Grizzlies have lost three games in a row, and nine of their last 10. Their only victory during that period was at home against the Chicago Bulls, and was far from convincing.

Because the Grizzlies sit behind the Mavericks due to the season series tiebreaker, a win here, and a loss for the Mavs when they take on San Antonio, would see Memphis move back into sixth position and avoid a dreaded first-round playoff match-up against either the Spurs or Warriors.

The season series between the two sides has been anything but even to this point. The Warriors took the first game by 50 points, and followed it up with two smaller victories.

As always, Stephen Curry is going to be a threat for the Warriors. Expect him to try and get off to a particularly fast start in an attempt to blow the game out and get plenty of rest in the second half before the playoffs get underway.

Prediction
The Grizzlies are playing ordinary basketball and won’t be able to turn it around against a Warriors side out to make history.

Warriors by 17.
