Off-contract Brisbane forward Matt Gillett wants to stay at the Broncos despite interest from rival NRL clubs.
The 27-year-old Queensland and Australia representative is the top target of several clubs including Gold Coast and Cronulla.
Brisbane are reportedly unlikely to be able to come close to the money rivals can offer Gillett, who is believed to be earning $450,000 a year under his current deal.
Gillett though says he has little interest in moving away from Red Hill.
“Broncos are a successful club that’s why so many players want to be here,” Gillett said.
“No rush, I’ve just got to sit tight and play footy.
“Any player goes through it in their careers … it something that happens regularly.” Broncos teammate Adam Blair says the NRL leaders are building a strong unit at the club and he’d love to see Gillett stay.
Blair himself was the subject of a big money move from Melbourne to Wests Tigers, where he failed to meet the expectation that came with his salary.
The New Zealand international says Gillett would do well to heed his own experience.
“If you think you’re going to be happy somewhere else, go there, but at the end of the day everyone around you including yourself and your family need to be happy,” Blair said.
“For our sake, at the Broncos, hopefully he stays with us.”
