Isn't it a little early to start coach bashing?

We all need to relax a little bit and take a deep breath. We are only going into Round 5 of the AFL season and we are already hanging clubs and their coaches out to dry.

Nearly every newspaper is going on about Richmond, Collingwood, Fremantle and now Port Adelaide. They are talking about how poorly the team is going after the first four rounds of the year.

After the first four rounds!

A lot of the pressure and anxiety is building across the league. Let’s just take a deep breath and look at this realistically.

Richmond has made the finals now three years in a row, after having a very long dry spell from finals action. But the Tigers have not won any of those finals games. The pressure from the media is high on Damian Hardwick right now, but it should not be.

Dimma has proved that he can coach and that the Tigers are going in the right direction from where they have come from. Let’s give the Tigers a couple of weeks and then see where they are.

They are clearly not playing at their best but like all good teams they find the problem and work out the solution. Give them time to work out the solution.

Collingwood is the most powerful club in Australia. What the Pies are dishing up right now is embarrassing. Nathan Buckley and his team have won three matches in 15 rounds; this is an astonishing fact and it really does reflect the coaching of Buckley.

The pressure is on Nathan Buckley’ and so it should be. With the way the team is going I cannot see him coaching next year.

Fremantle has one of the best coaches in business, Ross Lyon. He has a five-year deal – there is nothing to see here folks.

Port Adelaide is an interesting one. I feel like the Power are building to something bigger than what they produced in 2014. Let’s just rider this one out and see where it takes us.

The other night on Fox Footy 360 there was a segment on how much pressure these coaches are under. Mark Robinson said “they are all in code red pressure”.

I respect Robbo’s opinion and value his outlook on football, but that is a ridiculous statement. Pure example of someone who needs to cool down a bit.

The only coach in the league that deserves the pressure is Nathan Buckley, it is clear that the Eddie McGuire succession plan has not worked.

But at the end of the day the year is only four rounds in, watch this space.
